Controls how the model and probe points are displayed in the CAD view.

The following options are displayed.
Shading
- Triangulation tolerance — Maximum distance, in millimetres, between the triangles used to shade the CAD model and the surfaces displayed when simulating an inspection.
A lower value produces smoother surfaces, but takes longer. A higher value produces coarser surfaces, but provides better performance.
- Surface colours from the CAD file — Display the CAD model using the originally specified colours.
Note: The model must be saved in DDX/DDZ file (.ddx; .ddz) or DGK file (.dgk) format to use this option. Otherwise, the model is displayed in the default PowerInspect colours.
- Default CAD shading — Shading mode in which CAD models are displayed when documents are opened.
- Restore state from file Open models with the shading mode of the last saved document. New documents are shown in Show shaded and wireframe mode.
- Always shaded Display models in the Show Shaded and Wireframe mode.
- Always wireframe Display models in the Show Wireframe mode.
Points
- Show probe centre — Display a cross at the probe centre for each contact point.
- Show probe contact point — Display a cross at the probe contact points.
- Show theoretical contact point — Display a cross at the locations where the probe should contact the surface of the part.
- Show probe direction — Display the direction of probing as an arrow pointing away from the probe centre. The length of the arrow is equal to the probe radius.
- Display all — Displays all the contact points regardless of the maximum number specified.
Max number of points displayed — Maximum number of contact points that can be displayed for each item.
Animation
- Switch on animation — Animate changes to the orientation of the CAD model.
Time limit — Time taken to animate a view change. Decreasing the time speeds up the animation.
- Automatic zoom all — Resize the model to fit the CAD view when you modify the transformation matrix, or add a Point Cloud from File item to the inspection sequence.
Point Cloud
- Show points used to fit items — Show the points used to fit point-cloud items.
- Show points used to fit reference plane — Show the points used to fit the reference plane used for point-cloud items.
- Show all available points used for fitting — Show the points available for fitting a point-cloud item.
Tip: Control the colour of these types of point on the Display Options > Colours > Point Cloud page of the Options dialog.
