To convert surface points to edge points

By default, the Dynamic Points Editor creates surface points that can be used to create alignments or guided surface groups. Use the Switch Surface/Edge button to convert the points you have created for use in a guided edge group.

To convert dynamic surface points to dynamic edge points:

1. Click Home tab > Mouse Context panel > Dynamic Points Editor. The Dynamic Points context tab is displayed.
2. Select the dynamic points you want to convert. For example:

   

3. If necessary, drag the points close to the edge you want to inspect.
4. To convert the surface points to edge points, click Dynamic Points tab > Switch Type. The points are positioned against the edge, and the names change from DS to DE. For example:

   

   Click the button again to convert the points back to surface points.

5. To create an edge point group, click Dynamic Points tab > Items > Inspection Points.
