To create Digitised-Curve items

Create digitised curve items. Choose whether the digitised curve item is a polyline or spline curve.

  1. Open the group in which you want to create the item.
  2. Choose Geometry > Features > Curves > Digitised Curve.

The CAD view switches to full-screen mode.

  3. To select the type of digitised curve:
    1. Click .
    2. To create a polyline, select Polyline. To create spline curve, deselect Polyline.
    3. If the digitised curve item is a polyline, enter a value for Tolerance.
  4. To suspend use of the guided plane and probe anywhere on the part, deselect .
  5. Probe the points on the part to create a curve, or click an existing curve to append points to it.
  6. Mark features on the curve and save the points:
    • To delete all probed points, click .
    • To delete the last probed point, click .
    • To close the dialog without saving the probed points, click .
    • To specify that the next probed point marks a surface discontinuity such as an edge or a corner, click .
    • To insert a gap before the next probed point, click .

If the next point is inserted into the curve before the current start point, the gap is placed between the new point and the start point.

    • To connect the start and end points and close the curve, click .
  7. Save the points to a new digitised curve item:
    • To save the points and leave the dialog open to create another curve, click .
Note: To take a series of parallel guided planes across a part, use the Automatic Plane Offset check box in the Curve Sketching Options dialog to advance the guided plane along its normal each time you save a curve.
    • Click to save the points and close the dialog.
