To import dynamic points from an ASCII file, click Dynamic Points tab > Edit panel > Import. Use it to copy dynamic points between documents, or to import points created by another application or entered in a text editor.
Each point must be on a separate row of the file, and each value in a row must be separated by a space.
The entry for each point must contain:
- A point name. Names containing a space must be enclosed in quotation marks.
To avoid the creation of duplicates, PowerInspect may rename the points during the import process. To prevent renaming, enclose the point names in double quotation marks.
- The XYZ coordinates, which specify the probe centre.
- The IJK coordinates of the surface normal at the point location.
Each point can also specify:
- The offset of the point from the surface.
- The location tolerances.
- A point type: SP indicates a surface point; EP indicates an edge point.
For example:
If you specify only the name, coordinates, and vector of each point, the offset and tolerance values default to 0, and the point type defaults to SP.
