Labels in the CAD View display calculated distances and dimensions that appear in a report.
When you insert a snapshot of the CAD View into a report, the dimension labels you've created are included in the image. You calculate and display distances and dimensions using functions from the Dimensions panel of the Report tab on the ribbon.

With Interactive dimensioning, you can create labels by using the mouse to select datums, planes, and reference items in the CAD View and place the calculated dimensions. Alternatively, using the menu-driven Dimensions functions, you can create dimension labels by selecting options in the dimensioning dialogs.
Dimension values
The value displayed in a dimension label depends on the measurement status of the reference items.
- When all reference items are measured, the dimension shows the calculated value.
- When one reference item is unmeasured, but nominals are available for all the items, the nominal dimension is displayed.
- When the measurement and nominal are unavailable for a reference item, no dimension is shown until all items are measured.
The border of each dimension is coloured to indicate the status of the value:
- Gold indicates the dimension is a nominal value because one or more of the items are unmeasured.
- Green indicates the dimension is within tolerance.
- Red indicates the dimension is above tolerance.
- Blue indicates the dimension is below tolerance.
- Black indicates the dimension has not been compared with the CAD nominals.
