Disc Profile Finishing Overview

Use the Disc Profile Finishing strategy to create profile toolpaths with a tipped disc tool. The edge of the tool, rather than the tool tip is driven along the surface. This strategy does not cut at sharp angles, but retracts, re-positions and then plunges before continuing machining.

The pages associated with Disc Profile Finishing strategy are:

  • Disc profile finishing — The main page used to define a disc profile toolpath.
  • High speed — Settings to create arcs in internal corners to eliminate sudden changes in tool direction which is essential for high speed machining.
  • Gouge avoidance — Settings to determine what happens to the toolpath when a surface prevents profiling at the lowest position.
  • Multiple cuts — Settings to enable multiple profiling paths.
  • Automatic verification — Settings to automatically verify the toolpath when calculating it.

The remaining pages are common toolpath strategy pages.
