When you import a model, it is opened as a new model. If you import any other file, it is opened in the current model window.
Tip: When you import a file, the model is automatically zoomed to display all the geometry. This is useful if the items are not close to the origin.
Use one of the following methods to import data:
- Select File > Import.
- Drag and drop files into the graphics area.
- When you start the program you can open a model and import a file at the same time by typing:
powershape -file f1 -import f2
where f1 is the name of the model and f2 is the path of the imported file.
You can also use the following commands:
powershape f1 f2
powershape -import f2 -file f1
To import a file into a new model, type one of the following commands:
powershape -import f2
powershape f2
Note: For the above commands to work, you must have FILE OPEN IFNONE in your
login macro.
To specify advanced data import settings, select File > Options > Data Exchange > Version 8/Surfaces and use the Import options.
You can also import materials to apply to shaded models.
