Issue:
A point cloud (RCP file or RCS file from ReCap) that is displayed correctly in other programs appears fuzzy (stripes) or empty after importing it into Inventor.
Causes:
While attaching the file it is visible that the origin is far out of line. Due to a limitation of the part size in Inventor, which is 100 m x 100 m x 100 m, this cannot work. Even with the option <Insert at Origin>, the result is not as expected:
Solution:
Modify the origin of the file in ReCap with the following steps:
- Open the file in ReCap.
- Use the function "Update Origin" (see picture).
- Select a point near or inside the model.
- Save the model.
- Attaching to Inventor now will display the expected point cloud.
