Intelligent Decimation
Intelligent decimation provides a method to extract key points from a source classification and move them to a target classification. The extracted key points can then be exported and leveraged more efficiently by downstream applications.
To decimate classified points
On the Home tile menu, select Automatic Ground Classification → Decimate Points.
The Decimate Points dialog displays.
Select the source classification from which the points will be extracted.
Select the target classification to receive the extracted points.
Specify the point density type to be used in decimation. Each option uses a different method to calculate how many points are moved from the source to the target classification.
Percentage of Points. Specify an approximate percentage of resultant points. The percentage defines the approximate number of points that are moved to the target classification.
Number of Points. Specify an approximate number of points from the total number of visible points in the source classification. The approximate number of points are moved to the target classification.
Note: If you select the Number of Points density, a progress meter displays. Click the X to close the meter and cancel the counting process.
Click Decimate to initiate the decimation or Cancel to exit the dialog.
When the decimation process completes, a report dialog displays a summary of the decimation.
