Open with Mesh or Point Cloud Formats Options
ReCap Pro 2026.1 introduces an enhanced Loading Selection system that allows users to selectively open mesh and point cloud data on demand. This improvement streamlines workflows by combining project status indicators with selection dialogs and popup menus into a clear and flexible interface.
Using the Loading Selection Feature
You can access the Loading Selection feature in two ways, depending on your workflow:
Option 1: Using the Popup Menu (Quick Selection)
Navigate to Home Screen.
Launch ReCap Pro to access Home Screen or click the Home button in the Main Screen to return.
From Recent Projects, locate your desired project.
Right-click the project thumbnail.
A popup menu will appear, allowing you to select Open as Point Cloud or Open as Mesh.
a. Unavailable data types will appear disabled (grayed out).
Option 2: Using the LoadSelection Dialog (Advanced Selection)
Navigate to Home Screen.
In Recent Projects, locate your desired project.
Left-click or Left-double click the project thumbnail. The LoadSelection Dialog opens, providing a more comprehensive interface:
a. View detailed project status and resource availability - Unavailable data types will appear disabled.
b. Access the Mesh or the Point Cloud directly based on your workflow.
c. Use check box at the bottom of the dialog to decide whether this dialog should appear every time.
Always Ask Format Selection
The Always Ask Format Selection option controls whether the LoadSelection Dialog appears each time you open a project.
Checked: The dialog will be shown every time, allowing you to choose manually.
Unchecked: The dialog will be skipped.
a. If both mesh and point cloud are available, the project will open using the default option defined in Preferences. b. If only one resource type is available, that resource will be loaded automatically.
Preference Settings: You can change this behavior at any time under Settings > Files > Open > Files > Always ask format selection.
