Mesh Selection

A mesh can be selected in a number of different ways. Use the options in the Viewing Panel to change the selection mode between Window/Click selection and Fence selection.

  • With the selection mode set to Window/Click selection:
    • Single Click Selection:
      • Left-click once on an unselected mesh surface to select only that surface. This replaces all other current selections.
      • Hold SHIFT and left-click once on a surface to add that surface to the current selection.
      • Hold ALT and left-click once on a selected surface to unselect it.
    • Window Selection
      • Left-click drag to draw a selection window. Mesh surfaces that fall completely within the window will be selected, replacing the current selection.
      • Hold SHIFT and left-click drag to draw a window. Release the mouse button to confirm the selection. Mesh surfaces that fall completely within the window will be added to the current selected.
      • Hold ALT and left-click drag to draw a window. Release the mouse button to confirm the selection. Mesh surfaces that fall completely within the window will be unselected.
  • With the selection mode set to Fence Selection:
    • Left-click once to start drawing a fence. Click again to add nodes to the fence. Double click to confirm the selection. Mesh surfaces that fall completely within the fence will be selected, replacing the current selection.
    • Hold SHIFT and left click once to start the fence. Continue holding SHIFT and left-click again to add nodes to the fence. Double-click to confirm the selection. Mesh surfaces that fall completely within the fence will be selected.
    • Hold ALT and left-click once to start the fence. Continue holding ALT and left-click again to add nodes to the fence. Double-click to confirm the selection. Mesh surfaces that fall completely within the fence will be unselected.

To deselect everything, click Clear Selection in the Operations Panel.

To hide unselected surfaces, click Hide Unselected Surfaces in the Operations Panel. This helps confirm what is selected prior to classifying or merging.
