Aluminum

Select Materials in the Job Preferences dialog and click the Modification button. Select the Aluminum tab to access the following parameters.

Define the following:

Name

The representative name of the defined aluminum.

Note: The material name must be assigned before the Add button is pressed.

Description

The representative description of the defined aluminum.

Elasticity

  • Youngs modulus - the Young's modulus value for the defined aluminum.
  • Poisson ratio - the Poisson's ratio for the defined aluminum.
  • Shear modulus - the shear modulus for the defined aluminum. This recognizes the influence of shear forces on structure deformation.

Resistance

  • Characteristic / design resistance - the characteristic or design resistance values of the defined aluminum.
  • Reduction factor for shear - the shear coefficient for the defined aluminum.
Note: The shear coefficient is used during structure calculations when shear deformation calculations are required.

Others

  • Force density (unit weight) - the density (unit weight) of the defined aluminum.
  • Thermal expansion coefficient - the thermal expansion coefficient for the defined aluminum.
  • Damping ratio - the damping ratio of the defined aluminum.
