Seismic Analysis Parameters (US Code IBC 2000/IBC 2006)

Parameters of a structure seismic analysis depend on a seismic code used during calculations of a structure influenced by seismic impact. Select seismic code IBC 2000 ("International Building Code 2000") or IBC 2006, issued in the USA in the New Case Definition dialog or click Parameters in the Analysis Type dialog.

To complete the seismic analysis according to the rules given in a code, define the following parameters:

  • Seismic case name
  • Site class determined according to the table 1615.1.1 included in the mentioned code (Site Class Classification)
  • Values of two parameters:
    • S1 - Spectral accelerations for 1-second period (table 1615.1.2(1) of the code)
    • Ss - Spectral accelerations for short periods (table 1615.1.2(2) of the code).
    • For IBC 2006 two additional parameters are available: R and I.

In the lower part of the dialog, the Direction definition and Filters buttons are located.

There is the additional button Base Shear; click it to open the Base shear dialog.

The details concerning this structure analysis method can be found in the mentioned code.
