The seismic analysis according to the equivalent lateral force method is independent from other cases. Therefore, you don't need to set up a modal case first.
- Click Analysis
Analysis Types. The Analysis Types dialog opens. - Click New. The New Case Definition dialog opens.
- Select Seismic (Equivalent Lateral Force Method), and then click OK. The Seismic Analysis dialog opens.
- Select the code according to which you want to run the calculations.
- Click Directions and Combinations to define the direction of the seismic excitation.
- Select a method to define the values of the fundamental period.

- Select Approximate to calculate the values according to the formulas of the selected code.
- Select User defined to enter the values manually.
- Select Precise to generate a modal case. In this case, click Modal Analysis Parameters to review the settings of the modal analysis.

- Review the Range of seismic load and the Seismic Analysis Parameters.
- Click OK.
