Complex Section Definition

Using this option, you can access a database to define a complex section. You can easily define a complicated section by defining relevant dimensions of a selected section type.

Access the option by:

1. Selecting Tools layout > Section Definition.
2. Clicking File menu > New section > Solid sections database, or clicking on the toolbar.

After the option is selected, the Complex Section Definition dialog displays.

You can import to the Section Definition module a relevant section from the active section database specified at the top of the dialog. The middle part of the dialog has 3 parts:

• Available section types are presented schematically by an icon accompanied by a symbol (see the table below).
• A schematic drawing of a section with the relevant dimensions.
• Several tabs, depending on the selected section type, where you can determine the parameters (dimensions) of the defined section.

To import a section to the Section Definition module:

1. Go to the Section Definition layout.
2. In the Complex Section Definition dialog, select a section type (for example, C1).
3. On the appropriate tabs, define section parameters (such as dimensions and material). The number of parameters depends on the type of complex section you select.
4. Click OK.
