Dowels

Parameters of dowel bars:

Stirrups for dowels

The option is turned off by default.

You can define stirrups for all dowel bar types except .

Parameters for stirrups:

• Stirrup type (by default, the same as selected on the Stirrups tab)
• Number of stirrups n (the minimum number is 1)
• Spacing between stirrups s_d
• Distance from the top of the column to first stirrup from the bottom s_d1
• Length of a dowel to the top of the column l (it is defined in the Dowels field)
• Cover value a.

Stirrups are distributed from the top of dowel bars with the spacing s_d; the first stirrup from the bottom is spaced s_d1 from the top of the column. Distribution is defined by manipulating with the parameters: n, s_d and s_d1. They are either defined by the user in the fields next to the corresponding check boxes or calculated automatically (when check boxes are deselected). Below you can view possible combinations of parameters defining the distribution.

1. Define the number of stirrups n; stirrups are distributed evenly; s_d and s_d1 are calculated automatically.
2. Define the number of stirrups n and spacing s_d; s_d1 is calculated automatically.
3. Define the number of stirrups (distributed evenly) n and spacing s_{d 1}; s_d is calculated automatically.
4. Define the number of stirrups n, spacing s_d and s_d1; (n-1) stirrups are spaced s_d from the top of the dowel; the first stirrup from the bottom of the dowel is spaced s_d1 from the top of the column.
5. Define the spacing s_d and s_d1; the number of stirrups n is calculated automatically.
6. Define the spacing s_d; the number of stirrups n and s_d1 are calculated automatically.
