Introducing Autodesk's latest offering: Industry Collection :Overview
Autodesk's Industry Collection was launched on 1 August 2016 and is one of the final steps in moving from a perpetual based business to a subscription based business model. With this launch, the sale of all new Design & Creation Perpetual Suites, as well as Design & Creation Suites subscriptions has ended and as of 7 May 2021, maintenance plans can no longer be renewed.
Autodesk's Industry Collection is the most convenient and flexible way to access a wide selection of the most essential Autodesk software used in any particular industry, as we are committed to providing value, flexibility and simplicity to our customers and the way they can use and manage Autodesk's software.
The 3 offerings are:
- Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection (AEC collection)
- Media & Entertainment Collection (M&E collection)
- Product Design & Manufacturing Collection (PDM collection)
- There are only 3 Collection offerings which align with future ongoing releases, rather than following an annual release cycle.
- Industry Collection dynamically add and retire applications, allowing instant access to new applications for all subscribers.
- Much shorter download times and requires less storage space, as unlike Suites, there is no single installer for Industry Collection - Users select only the products they wish to download.
- For multi-user access on Industry Collection, Admins can assign 3 Users for each cloud service.
Autodesk Account
Autodesk Account is a single destination portal, which allows Customers to track and manage their products and subscription benefits. Through this account, they can also download the latest releases, product enhancements, access cloud benefits, as well as request for support and more. Some of the changes made to Autodesk Account include:
- New Industry Collection grouping
- Search function from within Industry Collections
- Enhanced download and install permissions
- Improvements made to User Management

Installation and Licensing
With Industry Collection, Customers are no longer required to download and install the entire collection. Instead, they pick and choose the product they specifically require, and as a result - shorter download time and takes up less space! With this in mind, there are also specific product keys (but only one serial number) for each child product as installation and deployment are on a product basis.Single-user access works like existing single-user subscription offerings, so the license cannot be assigned to multiple Users and the use of any one application prevents other User from accessing any of the application in the collection if they do not have more licenses. Single-user access will also require an internet connection once every 30 days.
Multi-user access also works like existing multi-user subscription offerings. If there is only 1 seat on the Industry Collection, then the use of the license will prevent other Users from accessing any of the other applications within this collection. Also, the license cannot be allocated to multiple users to use different products simultaneously. They can, however, be combined with other perpetual and term multi-user licenses and works with existing license servers.
