Issue:
The installed Revit add-on is not available on the Revit ribbon.
Solution:
There can be various reasons for an add-on not showing up in Revit. Follow the suggestions to find the cause of the issue:
Verify that the add-on is installed
Check the Programs and Features Control Panel and confirm that the add-on is listed.
Check that the add-on file is loaded in the Add-ons folder:
|
Path
|
Description |
|---|---|
| C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\[Version] | This is the most common location for add-ins to be loaded |
| C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins | This location can be used for add-ins that span multiple products/versions. |
| C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit [Version]\AddIns | This location is used for Internal add-ons, but some older add-ins may still try to load into this location. |
If using, Revit 2025.3 and later you may directly open the Add-ins Manager. (Click Manage
Extensions
Add-Ins Manager) and diselect "disable all add-ins" to ensure they are enabled. Closing and Restarting Revit might be needed.Verify that other add-ins can be successfully installed.
Try uninstalling and then reinstalling the add-on.
Check if the add-on shows up when logging into a different Windows user account (and launching Revit).
Make sure that you understand where the add-on should be showing up (not all add-ins are placed in the add-ons Ribbon Tab).
Ensure the add-on is supported in the version of Revit installed.
Ensure you are using a full version of Revit. Revit LT does not support most add-ins. See: Is it possible to use plug-ins or add-ins in Revit LT?
If other 3rd party add-ons are installed, try disabling them to see if another add-on is causing a conflict: How to disable add-ons for Revit
Update 3rd party add-ons.
If the issue is not resolved after following the preceding steps, reach out to the manufacturer of the 3rd party add-on for further troubleshooting assistance.
Note: The following add-ons are included as part of the Revit 2018 and newer installation. The installer for the add-on is included in the Revit installation folder typically located: C:\Autodesk\WI\Autodesk Revit [Version]\x64\<add-ins>\<add-ins>.msi
