Revit 2021 and Newer versions
After Installation:
To load family content, use one of the following options:
Cloud-based on demand: See Load Autodesk Family command (available in Revit 2021.1 and later under the Insert tab) to load families from the cloud. For more information, see Load Autodesk Family (Have You Tried).
Download content library: Download the content from How to download Revit Content.
Download content library: Download the content from Autodesk Account - Product updates.
Download sample files: Revit Sample Project Files.
Note: If extraction of downloaded files fails, Run the Extraction as Admin (Right-click, Run as Admin) Install missing templates: How to install Revit project and family templates.
Before Installation:
Note: This option also allows you to specify what build to install (2021.1 and later versions).
To include the family content with the installation, set up deployment or custom standalone installation, specify the desired Content, and download/install Revit with the customized installer.
Revit 2020 and Older
Templates and family content can be configured during the Revit installation. If this content was not installed as expected, go through the following steps to download the content and then configure Revit to use the content:
- Download Revit Content: Download and extract the content using How to download Revit Content.
- Update Revit Options: If family content (or project templates) still does not exist in Revit, see Revit family content and template options for information on updating Revit to show the content.
