General installation information

Important Note:
Uninstalling Revit 2024 after Revit 2025 is installed, may cause a blank Graphics tab in the Material Browser within Revit 2025. This is caused by the Revit 2024 uninstall process removing shared material files. To restore the material files, please run the Revit Material Repair Utility. Note: Once the utility starts, there is an initial file unpacking process, which may take approximately 20 seconds before the interface shows progress.
Revit 2025 updates can be used with the following operating systems:
Microsoft® Windows® 10 64-bit (Enterprise or Professional) and Microsoft® Windows® 11 64-bit (Enterprise or Professional)
Administrative privileges
In order to apply Revit updates, you must have administrative privileges to install and uninstall products.
Backup custom files
Back up all customized files, such as Revit.ini, before starting.
Apply Revit update to an existing installation
Follow these instructions to install an update on a single computer. Download the update executable and save it to any folder. Ensure the original product installation media is available. Find the folder where you saved the update and double-click the executable (EXE) file.
