Digital Fabrication

Learn how a chair that is available as a Revit family was originally designed and can be fabricated using Fusion 360.

As part of a recent Autodesk Foundation volunteer program, 10 Autodesk employees spent two weeks providing software training (which included both Revit and Fusion 360) and design-thinking workshops to post-graduate design fellows at the African Design Centre in Kigali, Rwanda. The team challenged the students to a Fusion 360 competition, in which the winning design would be digitally fabricated during the program.

Jeremie Oonyu from Uganda modelled this exceptional chair, and he was thrilled to have it digitally manufactured on a nearby Kigali ShopBot. His design was later translated into a new Revit furniture family, the Oonyu Chair.

To use this chair in a Revit model, load it into your Revit project. The chair family resides here:

To digitally fabricate your own copy, open this file in Fusion 360: Chair_Oonyu.
