About Revit Viewer

To open and review models without an active license, you can run Revit LT in viewer mode. Revit LT Viewer is intended for reviewing models and printing views and sheets without the need for a software license or subscription.

In viewer mode, all tools and functionality of Revit LT are available except for the following:

  • Save or Save As
  • Export functions to CAD formats
    • DWG
    • DXF
    • DGN
  • Export to FBX

If you make changes or add elements to a model while in viewer mode, the following tools do not work:

  • Print
  • Export DWF/DWFx
  • Export IFC
  • Export Images and Animations
    • Walkthrough
    • Solar Study
    • Image
  • Export Reports
    • Schedules
    • Room/Area Reports

To use Revit LT Viewer, install Revit LT, and then do one of the following:

  • From the Windows Start menu, select Revit LT Viewer.
  • Create and use a desktop shortcut as follows, replacing ENU with the desired language code:
    • "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit2024 Release\Revit.exe" /viewer /language ENU
When you start Revit LT, a reminder indicates that Revit LT is in viewer mode. The title bar of the application frame also indicates you are working in viewer mode.
Note: When opening models in viewer mode, you cannot save changes. Viewer mode is intended only for reviewing and printing models.
