Open a Revit Model with Desktop Connector

Use the Autodesk Docs connected drive in Windows Explorer when you want to open the latest published version of a Revit LT workshared cloud model.

Access the latest published version of a model in the following cases.
  • You want to preview a Revit LT workshared cloud model and don't need to make changes to the live model.
  • The Revit LT workshared cloud model on Autodesk Docs is corrupt and you need to access the latest published version.
Note: You cannot open a live Revit LT cloud model (workshared or non-workshared) from the Autodesk Docs connected drive. Use Revit Home when you want to open and modify the live model.

To access the latest published version of a Revit LT workshared cloud model from the Autodesk Docs connected drives in Windows Explorer, Install Desktop Connector and sign in with your Autodesk ID.

The latest published version of the model is independent of the live Revit LT workshared cloud model. When you publish a cloud model (workshared or non-workshared) to Autodesk Docs, a new version of the published model is created and synced to the Autodesk Docs connected drive.

When you open the latest published version of a model from the Autodesk Docs connected drive, you cannot save the changes back to the live workshared cloud model. You can open the published version of the model and save it as local detached copy.

When you upload a local Revit LT model to Autodesk Docs via a web browser or though the Autodesk Docs connected drive, the model is stored in Autodesk Docs as an .RVT file. You can open and modify it in Revit LT and save it back to the cloud. In this scenario, the central model is not supported.
