Introducing Design Beams
There are four design beam types for which analysis and code checking is carried out:
- Steel/Concrete Composite bridge beams to BS5400 Part 3 (2000) and Part 5 (DMRB version).
- Pre-tensioned, prestressed bridge beams to BS5400 Part 4.
- Reinforced concrete bridge beams to BS5400 Part 4.
- Post-tensioned, prestressed bridge beams to BS 5400 Part 4. Multiple spans may be defined and each analysed in turn.
- Each beam is defined by one or more sections which can vary along the span.
- Features such as transverse web stiffeners, lateral restraints, shear studs etc. are positioned along the span.
- Reinforcement can be placed within the sections and curtailed at positions along the span.
- Load effects for a variety of load cases can be entered manually or obtained automatically from the Structural Analysis.
- Capacity Resistance checks are carried out at default and user defined locations along the span and displayed graphically.
- Other code verification is also carried out at these locations, the results of which can be printed out in "calculation style" to be included in a user report.
