Carbon Accounting Glossary (BETA)
Achievable estimate – The embodied carbon value from the 20th percentile of all products in EC3 within the provided material category.
Carbon accounting - In construction estimation, the process of measuring the embodied carbon of materials used in building to evaluate the most cost-effective and highest impact solutions to reduce carbon emissions.
Conservative estimate - The embodied carbon value from the 80th percentile of all products in EC3 within the provided material category.
Embodied carbon - Greenhouse gases or emissions generated by materials and construction processes through the entire building lifecycle.
Embodied carbon (A1-A3) – The embodied carbon associated with the Product stage of lifecycle assessment, which includes A1 (raw material extraction and supply), A2 (transport to manufacturing plant), and A3 (manufacturing and fabrication).
