Import Takeoff Types
You can import existing takeoff types from another takeoff package or project, and then use the imported takeoff types to perform takeoff in your current package. Import takeoff types in the Takeoff Types panel in the Takeoff viewer.
You can also add new takeoff types in your project from the Takeoff Types panel. Learn more at Create Takeoff Types.
To import takeoff types
Click the Packages tool from the Takeoff left navigation to open the packages list.
Select and click a package in the list to open the Takeoff viewer with a default view of the Sheets & Models panel.
Click the Takeoff Types
icon to open the Takeoff Types panel.
Import takeoff types by clicking the Import
icon at the top right of the panel.
On the Import takeoff type screen, make selections about the takeoff types to be imported.
Select to import takeoff types from either an existing project or an existing project template.
- Select Project to show available projects for your takeoff type import.
- Select Template to show available templates for the takeoff type import. Learn to set up a project template to use in Takeoff at Configure Project Templates for Takeoff.
Use the drop-downs to select the desired takeoff types from available projects or templates:
- Project name – Select an available project or project template.
- Takeoff package – Select from available takeoff packages in that project with takeoff types.
- Takeoff types – Select the takeoff types that you want to import from available takeoff types in the selected project and package.
If takeoff types appear in the list as disabled (grayed-out and not able to be selected), they can’t be imported because they are incompatible with your project's current classification system.
Click Import to import the selected takeoff types. Imported takeoff types will appear in the Takeoff Types panel, where they can be edited or used as-is to perform takeoff in your project.
