Divisions

A division in Upchain is a way to further divide your tenant according to how your company is organized.

A division is assigned its own currency. Users are then assigned to one specific division based on their physical location and inherit the currency settings of that division. Click here to learn more about user management.

When a project is created, it is created in the division that the user is assigned to and also inherits the currency set for that division. You may specify exchange rates between currencies should items be shared across projects from different divisions.

Each division may have its own item numbering rules and document numbering rules. This can help users know at a quick glance which division created a specific item or uploaded a specific document.

Workflows must be assigned to one or more divisions. This means that your Tenant Administrator can create workflows specific to each division if necessary.

The following areas of administration are division-specific:

  • Item numbering
  • Document numbering
  • Workflows
  • Users

The following areas of administration are not division-specific:

  • Item attributes
  • Tenant properties
  • Picklists
  • Project types
  • Business processes (Task types, Business process types, and Document categories)
  • Teams
  • Suppliers and manufacturers
  • Customers
  • User federations
  • Custom reports

If you would like divisions created in your tenant, you must contact Autodesk support.

Note: Once a division is created, you cannot edit its name, so consider carefully what naming convention you would like to use before you contact support.
