Exchange rates

Exchange rates enable you to specify a fixed exchange rate between two currencies for a specific period of time. This is useful if your tenant uses divisions that have been assigned different currencies and there is the possibility of items being shared across projects from different divisions.

To add a new exchange rate:

  1. Navigate to Administration > Engineering > Exchange rates.
  2. Click Add exchange rate.
  3. Fill out all required information and click Add.

The starting currency matches the currency that was set during the time of your tenant’s creation. You specify this when you create and activate your tenant. If you want this to be changed, you must contact Autodesk support. You may then add exchange rates from that currency to any other currency and set a length of time for which this is valid. You may leave it with no end point, which means it will stay effective indefinitely or until it is removed.

The exchange rate is relevant when an item is used in more than one project with different currencies. If an item has a cost filled in, it is always shown in the context of a project in the project’s currency. If the item has been copied to a different project with a different currency, the exchange rate is used to convert that cost to the new project’s currency. If no exchange rate is specified, then the cost is not converted to any other currency and is shown as empty.

If you want to discuss exchange rates further or are interested in using divisions in your tenant, please contact Autodesk support.
