Export an electrical package from Altium Designer
Upchain's Altium exporter makes it easy to export eCAD from Altium Designer to then import it into Upchain. At the click of a button, export a full eCAD package that contains all the data you need to add your electrical data and bill of materials to Upchain.
Requirements
Currently, only Altium version 20.x is supported.
Download and install the Altium exporter
In the Upchain web app, click your profile icon at the top right of the screen to open the user drop-down menu.
Select Plugins from the drop-down.
The Plugins page opens.
Click the Download button next to the Altium Exporter to start downloading the installation file.
The installation file is downloaded to your computer.
To start the installation, run the installation file.
You will be asked to verify that you want to run the installer — click Run.
Step through the installation wizard, following the on-screen directions and accepting default settings.
You can now use the Altium Exporter.
Use the Altium exporter
In Altium Designer, open the project you want to export.
Click the Export to Upchain icon from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
The Export to Upchain window opens
Locate the folder to which you want to export your files.
Click OK.
Once the export is completed successfully, click OK and close the Export to Upchain window.
The exported files include the following:
- An Excel file containing the BOM structure
- A PDF file containing all the drawings
- A ZIP file containing the entire Altium project.
