Manage change notice anomalies
Change notices (CNs) are used to order or return items from one project under one End Item. After you've ordered items in your BOM, the BOM may change in a number of ways, including:
- Items may move to a new location.
- Items may be revised and are now at a new revision level in the BOM.
- Project quantities may be reduced.
- Items may be removed completely from the BOM.
Whatever the reason for the change, it means that there is now a change notice anomaly; the item versions that you have previously ordered in specific BOM locations are no longer in the BOM at that location and are now orphans.
Important: You must deal with orphans as soon as possible to prevent duplicate items being ordered unnecessarily. If orphans are not taken care of, then you risk ordering, and therefore spending, more than what is required.
You may use a CN to identify any orphaned items within the project under the chosen End Item.
Note: You cannot create a CN for more than 40000 items. This includes items that are to be redistributed or returned.
