Configure key tenant properties
One of the first areas of the administration to configure is the tenant properties. Tenant properties give you further control over the behavior of your Upchain environment. Many properties impact the behavior of the various plugins, while others enable or disable functionality that may or may not be useful to your company and the CAD system you use.
You should pay particular attention to the following tenant properties:
- drawing.create.pdf – Generates a PDF translation of your drawings on check in. This means other non-CAD users can access a translation of the drawing.
- show.new.item.window – Prompts you to enter item name, item type, and description when creating individual items. This gives you control over how items are created and may affect their item numbering.
- restrict.project.creation – Restricts project creation to Tenant Admins. This may be a useful feature when first getting started with Upchain.
- filename.pattern – Standardizes how CAD files are named when uploaded into Upchain. All CAD files must have a unique filename in Upchain to prevent any duplicate data and this feature takes that burden away from CAD designers.
- file.version.change.description.mandatory – Enable if you'd like your engineering team to always provide a summary of what has been changed upon each CAD file check-in.
- license.key.sw.doc.mgr – If you are using Upchain to manage SOLIDWORKS (2021 or higher) data you will need to request this license key (free of charge for SOLIDWORKS subscribers) from SOLIDWORKS and enter the key in this tenant property. You only need to enter this key once, and it applies to all your SOLIDWORKS users within the tenant.
