Create an item version from the eBOM view
To create an item version from a released item:
Locate the item. You may find it in the Project BOM, Quick Search, or Advanced Search.
Right-click the released item you want to revise and select Open.
Refresh the eBOM view once the CAD file is open in your CAD system.
Right-click the item to be revised and select Replace With New Version.
If you selected a released item that exists under a released parent, Upchain prompts you to also revise the released parent.
Click OK to continue.
Upchain displays a green symbol beside each item to be revised. Note that the items are still released.
Switch to the cBOM view.
Click Refresh.
Right-click the top item in the cBOM view and select Save (or Check in) so that the new item versions are created for all selected items.
The Project selection window opens.
Select the box beside the location where you want to place the new item version.
Note that you cannot select a released item as the location for the new item version. If the released item you’re revising is a child of a released parent item, then you would also need to revise the parent item if you want to maintain the existing parent-child relationship.
Click Select to confirm your choice.
The BOM Anomaly window opens.
A blue icon identifies all items that are being revised. Click OK to continue.
You have now created a new item version that is in development. The new item version is placed only in the location you chose in step 8. In other words, the new item version will not appear in any other location where the original released item is located.
If you chose Save, the item is still checked out to you to make the necessary changes. Once you’ve completed your changes, be sure to Check in the item to commit your changes into Upchain and remove the check out lock.
You can view and access all previous revisions of the item in the Where used tab under Genealogy in both the Web application and the CAD plugin.
