Create an item

1. Open the BOM () section of the project.

2. Select an item from the navigation pane that is to be the parent of the new item to load it into the center view.

   Note: You cannot create a child item under a released item.

3. In the BOM table, click more actions > Create > Item.

   The Add Item window opens.

4. Enter all required fields:

   • Item Type: a classification for the item that determines how it is originally configured and what data is involved in managing the item. The item type determines the item number, depending on whether your Tenant Administrator has configured specific item numbering rules for different item types.
   • Item Name: a word or set of words by which the item is known or referred to.
   • Item Description: a more detailed description of the item.

5. Click Create.

The new item is created as a child of the selected item from the navigation pane. Its status is set to Development and is at its first revision level.
