Details tab

The Details detail tab tab contains the item's attributes, including item number, item name, description, item type, quantity, notes, item lifecycle status, item maturity, creator, and any other custom attributes that may have been configured by your Tenant Administrator.

Edit item attributes

Important: When you edit item attributes in the Upchain web app that are mapped to CAD files, the attributes are not written to the CAD files until they are checked out using the CAD plugin.
  1. In the item details pane > Details tab, click Edit edit.
  2. Make the required changes to the attributes.
  3. Click Save save.

Add purchased part attributes

If the item is a purchased type, then you may add the item's manufacturer details. These item types include:

  • Purchased electrical part
  • Purchased electromechanical part
  • Purchased mechanical part
  • Purchased phantom assembly

Purchased items have the following item attributes:

  • Manufacturer
  • Manufacturer Item Number
  • Manufacturer Item Description
Note: Your Tenant Administrator may enable the tenant property enable.manufacturer.on.all.item.types which adds these attributes to all items regardless of their type.

To add a manufacturer to an item, the manufacturer must already exist in your tenant. Ask your Tenant Administrator to add the manufacturer if you cannot find it in the list.

To edit these attributes:

  1. Click Edit edit.

  2. Select a manufacturer from the Manufacturer drop-down list. The drop-down list contains manufacturers added to your tenant by your Tenant Administrator.

  3. (Optional) Enter the manufacturer's item number (ie. their catalog number) and a description.

Note: You must select a manufacturer in order for the manufacturer item number to be saved.
  4. Click Save save.

Important: The combination of manufacturer/manufacturer item number may only be linked to one item number. If you attempt to enter the same manufacturer/manufacturer item number combination into a different purchased item, Upchain presents you with an error message indicating that the combination is already in use elsewhere.

Add manufactured item attributes

When your Tenant Administrator has enabled the tenant property material.picklist.visible, the following attributes are added to manufactured (non-purchased) items:

  • Shape
  • Material
  • Finish
  • Heat Treat

These attributes contain pre-configured picklists from which you may select a value to specify additional physical characteristics of the item.

The values available for each attribute depenends on the value selected for the attribute that precedes it. In other words, the value you select for Shape determines the values available in the Material picklist; the value you select for Material determines the values available in the Finish and Heat Treat picklists.

  1. Click Edit edit.
  2. Select a value from the Shape drop-down list.
  3. Select a value from the Material drop-down list.
  4. (Optional) Select a value from the Finish drop-down list.
  5. (Optional) Select a value from the Heat Treat drop-down list.
  6. Click Save save.
Tip: Select a blank value for Shape or Material to clear out all other dependent values.
