Change notices (CN)

A change notice (CN) may be used to:

• Order released parts in an assembly under one End item.
• Return parts previously ordered that are no longer needed.
• Get a list of orphaned items. Orphaned items are items that are in Upchain but outside any BOM structure. This list can be used to identify any returns or to redistribute the items.
• Transfer quantities ordered of an older version of an item to the order that contains the new version of the item.

A CN is created for the items under one End Item within one project. You cannot create a CN that contains items from more than one End Item or spans more than one project. However, you can create multiple CNs within a project, each of them tied to the items under a chosen End Item. The items selected within one CN cannot be selected in another CN. This is shown with a requisition lock.

A CN may be created either from Upchain or the CAD Plugin. However in order to start the CN workflow, this must be done from Upchain > Business Processes > Change notices.
