Start the workflow for a change request

A Change request (CR) progresses through its lifecycle based on the CR Workflow that has been configured by your Administrator and chosen for this CR. When you create a CR, its status is set to Draft and its workflow has not been started.

Regardless of the workflow you choose, you initiate the workflow the same way each time:

  1. Locate and open your Draft CR.
  2. Make sure all required fields are completed and a workflow is selected.
  3. Once you have a workflow selected, a button appears beside the workflow name. Using the out-of-the-box workflow, the button reads Start Workflow. Click this button.

This initiates the workflow for the opened CR and the next steps in the workflow become visible in the CR header. The workflow chosen determines what happens next and what actions you or others may need to take. Depending on the workflow chosen, only the person assigned a task will be able to execute the next workflow step.

Note: Once the workflow has begun, you cannot edit the CR anymore.
