CAD Plugin settings

You can configure the following customizations from the CAD plugin settings :

• Enable or disable auto-login when your CAD program starts.
• Toggle sidebar names on or off.
• Enable or disable automatically refreshing the cBOM/eBOM views after download.
• Change the default BOM filter shown in the Project BOM view.
• Change the default view you will be shown after logging in. Select from My Workspace, Item View, BOM Views, Last Accessed Project, and My Projects.
• Change the default home folder location.
• Import CAD data into Upchain.
• Configure My Workspace to display or hide certain sections. Sections include: Projects Assigned to Me, Watched Documents, Favorite Objects, Favorite Projects, My Locked Objects, My Recently Created Objects, Recently Used Projects, and Assigned Activities.
• View the CAD attribute mappings as configured by your Tenant Administrator.

If you are a Tenant Admin, you can configure further tenant-wide settings:

• Turn on or off the Item View, BOM Views, Activities, or Cart in the plugin for all users.
• Configure the attributes used to represent items in the Project BOM, cBOM, and eBOM views.

Change the home folder's default location

The default download folder for CAD plugin files is: C:\home\your Upchain account email.

First-time CAD plugin users and existing users need to follow slightly different steps to change the home folder location.

Change the location for new users

1. In the CAD plugin, click Settings located near the bottom of the menu bar.
2. In the Login Settings section, enter the path to the home folder's new location in Home folder location.
3. Restart your CAD plugin.

Change the location for current users

1. Make sure any CAD files checked out to you are checked in.
2. In the CAD plugin, click Settings located near the bottom of the menu bar.
3. In the Login Settings section, enter the path to the home folder's new location in Home folder location.
4. Move all files from the old location to the new one.
5. Restart your CAD plugin.

Set language preference

The plugin adopts the Windows language settings found in Windows Settings > Time & Language > Region > Regional format. Currently, the plugin supports:

• English
• German
• Spanish
• Italian
• French
• Korean

Configure item representation for the tenant

The item representation determines how the item is displayed in the cBOM, eBOM, and Project views in the CAD Plugin.

Item representation is configured by:

• Adding attributes
• Removing attributes
• Re-ordering attributes

There are ten attributes that can compose the item representation:

• Lock status
• Item status
• Drawing associated
• Item type
• Item number
• Item name
• Item description
• Major revision
• Minor revision
• *Configuration name

Add an item attribute

1. In the CAD Plugin settings window, scroll down to the Item representation section.
2. Click + Add attribute to add a blank field.
3. Click the attribute to select from the drop-down list.
4. Click Save.

Remove an item attribute

1. In the CAD Plugin settings window, scroll down to the Item representation section.
2. Click minus corresponding to the attribute you want to remove.
3. Click Save.

Re-order an item attributes

The item representation is displayed based on the order of the attributes listed in the Item representation section. For example, if Item name is listed above Major revision, then Item name appears before Major revision for the items in the BOM views in the CAD plugin.

1. In the CAD Plugin settings window, scroll down to the Item representation section.

2. Use the up and down arrows to change the position of the attribute relative to the other attributes in the list.

   • The grayed out arrow indicate that you may not move the attribute higher or lower in the list.

3. Click Save.
