Manage iPart versions
iPart member and factory items may be released individually or as part of an assembly. Click here to learn how to release an item. Click here to learn how to revise an item.
Please note the following:
- The iPart factory file is a child of each iPart member file. Therefore you cannot release an iPart member without also releasing its factory file. However, it is possible to release the iPart factory file before any of its members, if it is registered to an item.
- It is possible to have a mix of some iPart members in a released state and others in a development state. However, iPart members cannot be modified directly. Therefore, if the factory file is released, you cannot make any changes to any of its members. It is recommended that you release and revise iPart factory and member files together to avoid any confusion.
- By default, if an item is created for the factory file, it is not automatically added to the iPart member’s eBOM. Therefore, when you send a member item to a change request (CR), the factory file may not be automatically added to the CR. You must ensure you add the factory file to the CR, otherwise the CR cannot start.
