Open and edit a drawing

The Upchain CAD plugins gives you many ways to quickly open a drawing associated with a BOM item. The drawing is downloaded to your home folder from which you can open the drawing in your CAD software to view or edit it.

Note: Remember that this icon has_drawing.png indicates that an item has a drawing attached.

Open a drawing from an open model

If you have a model open but not checked out you can download the drawing associated with that model, then open the drawing to view or edit in your CAD software.

  1. With the CAD model open, refresh (refresh_icon.png) the cBOM view.

  2. Right-click the currently-opened item and select Load drawing from the drop-down.

The drawing is downloaded to your home folder (if it wasn't downloaded already) and opens in a new window.

  3. Refresh the cBOM view to view the drawing's cBOM.

The drawing is in a Read-Only state as indicated by the black text in the cBOM view. You can now right-click the drawing in the cBOM view and select Check out from the drop-down if you wish to now edit the drawing.
