Fixed issues in Upchain 22.3
Overview
This topic describes fixes provided in the Upchain 22.3 major service update.
In between major service updates, Upchain deploys weekly, minor updates to address any critical issues reported by our customers.
Upgrading the CAD Plugin
You may upgrade your CAD Plugin to 22.3 to receive the newest capabilities. Upchain Web 22.3 is backward compatible with the CAD Plugin version 22.2.
The latest version of the Upchain CAD Connector is available for download on the Plugins page immediately following the service update made to the maintenance window.
Fixed Issues
Administration
- A duplicate entry for Administration > Item attributes now triggers an error message instead of an http-error code.
API
- When
POST /api/dms/v1/document/find_tree
endpoint is used by an unauthorized individual, a 403-http error code is returned instead of a 500-http Internal Server error. POST /api/dms/v1/documents/upload
endpoint now attaches documents to the specified item and returns a 200-http response instead of returning a 403-http response.
BOM
- We fixed the issue in the item details pane where UoM (Unit of Measure) automatically updates the string value to null when you exit edit mode
without making any changes.
- The correct 3-arrow icon
is shown for Change notices (CNs) in the item details pane > Business Processes
instead of the one-arrow icon.
- An error message is no longer displayed when you export a model with configurations.
- As expected, the eBOM tree loads under the Effective date filter when there are more than 2500 items directly under the end-item (root item).
- The correct item-type icon is shown instead of
for Inventor CAD in the item details pane > Documents
> Specification documents > under
CBOM.
- Checked out items now show the correct date stamp in BOM > eBOM > selected item's details pane > History and not a blank.
- When you create a new version of an item with a checkout lock, the checkout lock is no longer applied to the new version. This prevents clearing checkout locks from being blocked.
- As expected, Currency is the same in the BOM > eBOM > item details pane and the BOM Report. Both reflect the currency recorded for the project.
- When you create an item after publishing a new version of an sBOM item, the new item is displayed under the sBOM tab as expected.
Business Processes
- In Change Notices (CNs) Deselect all released no longer excludes items for which R Qty is 0.
Note: Select all released is expected to omit items for which R Qty is 0 however, they can be manually selected. - We fixed the display issue where it appeared as though the values under R Qty were missing for items put through multiple CNs.
- When a task’s owner rejects a CR, other team members can quickly access the CR to review it without waiting a very long time for the CR to load at their end.
- A Change request (CR) workflow with the Object Decision primitive configured as Associate Multi Item Attribute Task no longer changes an item’s status from Released to Approval Pending when the task is performed from the CAD Plugin. This resolves instances of new revisions of items being created for a released item when the CR workflow reaches the Object Decision primitive.
- As expected, a CN workflow updates the action buttons as it progresses without requiring you to exit and return to the context.
- CR workflows with Item Maturity configured are set to the specified maturity level instead of Approval Pending.
- All workflow actions in a CN are now listed and the bottom entries are no longer cut-off.
- A CR creator’s thumbnail of their profile picture or initials is no longer missing.
- As expected, "There are resolved anomalies in orphan window." displays every time orphan items are returned and not just when a parent-level item is returned.
- Items no longer remain with Pending status when a CR is rejected instead of having their status reverted to Development. This issue can occur when a removed item is still a part of the CR as the child of another parent-item.
- As expected, information about resolved anomalies appears after you click Confirm return quantity.
- We fixed the issue where CR workflows were blocked when configured with multiple assignees that can approve a quorum decision, and a team member reassigns a task from one out-of-office (OOO) assignee to another assignee.
- CRs containing 3000 parts no longer error out.
- The Description field is now a required field for Investigation requests (IRs). This prevents errors when creating an IR.
CAD Plugin
- Upchain no longer skips a version number after an item is Released and then checked back in. So, V0 of a newly released item goes to V1 when checked in to Upchain instead of V2.
- Outlines of drawings in PDFs, created in Inventor, have the same thickness whether the item is in Development or Released. Released items no longer display the outlines of drawings with a thicker outline than the Development version of the same item.
- As expected, the CAD Plugin for Solidworks can now be used to bring Altium’s electrical PCAs into Upchain when they are a part of a Solidworks assembly.
- We fixed the issue where the CAD Check in window lists duplicate child items of a suppressed assembly, where the suppressed assembly was previously checked in to Upchain and then checked in again as a part of another assembly.
- A suppressed CC part brought into Upchain using Attach active CAD, continues to be recognized as the same CC part when unsuppressed and brought into Upchain using Create item - that is the CC part retains its original name.
- As expected, Copy, Open, and Check out are unavailable when you right-click on an Inventor’s Library part.
- As expected, Create item is not available in the right-click menu for a suppressed sub-assembly.
- When importing data using Settings > Import data from the CAD Plugin for Inventor, the Save dialog window no longer opens. The Save dialog is not required for Import data feature.
- Items, within the Effective date, are no longer missing from the Download files window when attempting to download the item from the Advanced search results.
- An error message is no longer shown when you open an assembly and refresh the cBOM View. On investigation it was found that the issue was triggered by toolbox parts that were a part of multiple CRs in-progress.
- We fixed the issue where the CAD Plugin for Inventor, NX, Creo, CATIA, and the Generic Plugin do not block check in when performed on just root items.
- We fixed the issue where checked out main assemblies are set to read-only in Solidworks when you check out a main assembly and then check out one of its sub-assemblies.
- When a DWG file and its xref are cloned in the CAD Plugin for AutoCAD, the xref is no longer missing from the clone’s destination.
- The right-click menu appears as expected now when you perform a Quick search and right-click on an item in the search results.
- When you create an item for Inventor's suppressed assembly and parts, they show in the cBOM as phantom items and are not listed in the eBOM.
- As expected, when you have a CAD model open in Inventor, and select a part in Inventor’s browser, the corresponding part is highlighted in the cBOM in the CAD Plugin.
Documents
- Documents with file names that start with a dot(.) can now be added to a project-level document category.
- Upchain no longer lists documents that exceed 2 GB as a 0 GB document under a document category. Now an error message instructs you to reduce the file size before reattempting to add the document to Upchain.
- “Workflow not selected!” is no longer displayed when a document workflow is rejected.
Internationalization
- Japanese and Simplified Chinese characters in the Description field are no longer replaced by question marks when the Administration > Picklists page is refreshed.
- We fixed the issue where emails with Japanese or Simplified Chinese characters are blocked from being associated with an item using the Upchain Plugin for Outlook.
PDF Viewer
- As expected, TIFF images can be viewed in the PDF Viewer. This issue was found in Upchain 22.3.2.
Plugin for Office
- A BOM structure imported using the Plugin for Office, now displays descriptive error messages that identify incorrect data types such as, an Integer used in place of an expected Boolean value.
Project Dashboard
- My Assignment no longer lists tasks associated with a rejected CN.
Project Settings
- We fixed the issue where a supplier is still listed in the + Add Suppliers drop-down options (Project Settings > Suppliers tab) when the supplier shouldn't be since, the supplier is already a part of the project through association with an item on the project.
- As expected, a project’s description cannot exceed 250 characters in length. Any characters beyond this limit will not be saved.
Search
- Export to Excel function works consistently whether accessed from an item selected from search results for Quick search or Advanced search, item details pane > more actions > Export > Export to Excel, or BOM > eBOM > selected item details pane > more actions > Export > Export to Excel.
- Mfr. Name column is no longer available in the search results table for Advanced search. However, you can still use Mfr. Name as a filter. In case you want to see an item’s manufacturer listed in the search results table, read the following Workaround.
- As expected, when
show.items.from.private.projects.in.search
is enabled search results include items from projects flagged as private, as long as the person searching for the item is a member of the “private” project.
Supplier Portal
- Supplier Portal no longer closes when a supplier attempts to download very large assemblies.
