Change the Working Folder
Specify a different working folder.
You can browse the working folder, specify a different working folder, or set up a shared working folder for multiple users.
Understand Working Folders
The working folder contains read-only copies of files that have not been checked out from a vault. When a file is checked out, the checked out version from the vault replaces the file in the working folder and becomes read-write for editing. When the file is checked back into the vault, the local version in the working folder returns to read-only.
A working folder location is defined by default, allowing you to begin working with a vault right away. The default working folder is:
- My Documents\Vault
If you are using Civil 3D, the default working folder is:
- C:\Civil 3D Projects
Map a Vault Folder to a Different Working Folder
You can change the working folder for a specific folder and its contents on the Details dialog.
Right-click on a folder in the vault and then select Details.
In the Details dialog box, select the General tab.
To select a new working folder, click Working Folder and browse to a new location on the local computer.
To reset the assigned working folder to the default path of My Documents\Vault, click Default.
Note: While you can override the default working folder location, if the administrator is enforcing the location, it cannot be changed. If the folder is a library folder, it can be mapped to a shared server. To map a shared server to a library folder, enter a path in the Map to Shared Server field.
Note: The Map to Shared Server location will be replaced in case the working folder is enforced by the administrator.
After changing the working folder in Vault, you need to re-connect to Vault.
The Map to Shared Server function is used only in AutoCAD to relocate AutoCAD designs at the network folder into Vault.
