Copy Design – Customize the View

Customize how your Copy Design application looks.

Customize the layout by:

  • Adding, removing, and rearranging column fields
  • Toggling grid lines and banding on and off
  • Enabling automatic column-sizing.
Note: You can also select which Navigation Panels display and which navigation buttons are displayed. See Copy Design - Interface for more information.

Customize Columns

The columns displayed in the grid represent the properties for that object in the vault. You can customize which columns are displayed and the order in which they are displayed.

Arrange Columns

  • Drag a column header to a new position between any two headers in the grid. The arrows indicate the new position for the selected column.

Add Columns

  1. Right-click on a column header and then select Choose Columns. The Choose Columns dialog lists the properties that are available for displaying in the grid.
  2. From the drop-down list, select the object-type from which you want to select columns. Select All to view all the possible properties.
  3. Drag-and-drop a column from the Choose Columns dialog into the header row for the grid. You can place the new column between any existing columns in the layout.
Tip: By default, reference file names are set to the destination file name when an action is assigned. You can view the Numbering Panel to identify files by original name or add File Name (Historical) to the main view.

Remove Columns

Important: It is recommended that you do not disable the Actions or Status columns. Disabling these columns removes the copy action assigned to the file and the copy operation results, respectively, from view.
  • Drag a column header out of the grid and release it. The cursor changes to an "X" indicating that the column will be removed from the layout when the mouse button is released.
  • Right-click on a column and then select Remove This Column. The column is removed from the grid layout.

Reset Columns

  • Right-click on a column header and then select Reset Columns to return the grid layout to the factory defaults.

Sort the View Based on a Column

  • Click on a column head to sort files in ascending or descending order based on the file's values in that column while still retaining the model structure.

Click on the column title again to reverse the order.

Create a Quick List

Create a list of frequently used columns for a fast way to add back to the main view.

  • Right-click on the title of the column that you want to add to the Quick List and select Quick List.

The column is added to the Quick List.

  • To add a column to the view, right-click on the title of any existing column, select Quick List, and select the column that you want to add back to the view.

Tip: Click the red X next to an option in the Quick List to delete it from the list.

View Options

Right-click a column header and select View from the context menu.

Or, expand the View menu to display the options.

  • Select Show Grid Lines to toggle the display of grid lines on or off in the grid.
  • Select Show Banding to toggle the display of alternating color bands on or off in the grid.
  • Select Automatic Column Sizing to toggle whether or not columns adjust automatically to fit within the available view area.
