Devices Preferences

In the Menu Bar, click Edit > Preferences, then on the left side of the dialog box, select General Settings > Devices. After making any changes, press Apply and Save to save them.

Space Mouse

  • Enable 3D Mouse - Use to enable the 3D mouse, provided you have installed the appropriate drivers.

  • View Mode - Select to either control the camera or manipulate an object.

  • Rotation Pivot - Move around the camera, the selected object, or the focus distance.

  • Enable Two-Axis Mode - Only available with Enable 3D Mouse checked. Use to enable the two-axis mode, so the camera has only two free rotation axes, while the third, the roll axis, is locked.

  • Helicopter Mode - Only available with Enable 3D Mouse is checked. Define the height and tilt.

  • Height - Define the Helicopter Mode height in millimeters.

  • Use Fixed Height - Only available with Enable 3D Mouse and Helicopter Mode are checked. Use to reset the Helicopter Mode's height map to the value in Height.

Joystick

  • Use Joystick - Analog mode must be enabled. Activate the use of a joystick for navigation.

  • ID - Enter the device ID.

Pointing Devices

If you experience erroneous spinner behavior or a navigation overlay when interacting (i.e., dragging) with it, enable Force Tablet/Touchscreen Mode to correct this issue.

  • Force Tablet/Touchscreen Mode - Use to force the handling of devices as a tablet or touch device because, depending on the driver settings, some devices incorrectly report themselves as a mouse.

Sample settings for a Logitech RumblePad 2

These are suggested Logitech RumblePad 2 settings to use with Autodesk VRED.

  • Left Joystick - Trackball-like navigation. Rotates around the at-point.

  • Left Joystick + L1 - Rotates the camera.

  • Left Joystick + L2 - Pans the camera.

  • Right Joystick - Zooms.

  • Button 1 - Shows the whole scene.

  • Button 2 - Shows the Initial Camera View (ICV).
