Chrome
Use the Chrome material type for all kinds of chromic and metallic materials. When more control about scale and orientation of the surface structure is required, use brushed metal, instead. Metal type presets are available within the Properties Editor.
Video captions: Create a chrome material and allocate it to a geometry. Use the chrome material for highly reflective metallic surfaces. The Reflection Color defines the color of the reflection. Dye the score for colored chrome materials. The selection of the presets in the Type setting facilitates the adoption of the chrome characteristics to the real characteristics of the metals. In order to simulate matte chrome, activate the checkbox, Use Roughness. The lower you adjust the score, the less diffuse the material behaves.
Chrome Material
Reflection Color - Sets the chrome reflection color. When the chrome reflection is colored, reflected objects are also colored. The higher the brightness the higher the reflection on the surface. Black means no reflection; white gives full reflection. Click the color field on the right to open the color chooser; when the chrome reflection is colored, reflected objects are also colored.
Smear - Sets the reflection’s blur amount. Only supported in OpenGL rendering mode.
Contrast - Sets the sharpness of reflections. Increase contrast with multiple reflections to draw out more detail.
Saturation - Affects the specular reflection. The higher the saturation, the less the specular reflection.
Metal Type - Sets the metal types used, changing the characteristics of the metal. These metal types are available: Highly Reflective, Aluminum, Amorphous Carbon, Silver, Gold, Cobalt, Copper, Chromium, Lithium, Mercury, Nickel, Potassium, Platinum, Iridium, Silicon, Amorphous Silicon, Sodium, Rhodium, Tungsten, Vanadium, and Iron.
Roughness - Activates/Deactivates the roughness of the material and controls the sharpness of the glossy reflections. The higher the value, the rougher the microscopic structure of the surface and more diffuse the reflections. Use Roughness must be enabled.
