What’s New in the August 2025 Update

Version: 2.15.17

Release Date: August 5th, 2025

Overview

With the release of Workshop XR version 2.15.7, we are pleased to present you with a suite of new measurement features and improvements.

We are also proud to make our Geometry Optimization setting available, allowing users to decimate their model geometry for improved performance at minimal cost to accuracy.

In addition, we have new settings for user management within the Workshop.

Various bug fixes, crash fixes, and other improvements have been included in this release, which you may read about in more detail below.

Release Notes

What’s New

Measure tool enhancements: Users now have access to a range of new measurement options, enhancements, UI improvements and unit support.

  • New measurement options:

    • Snapping indicators when measuring. The tool will intuitively snap to the geometry the user is measuring.
    • Improved selection of individual measurements.
    • Unit and precision settings for measurements and avatar height.
    • Users will be able to easily deselect measurements via a second click.
  • UI improvements:

    • Toggle for “Free Measure” (disables snapping when enabled).
    • Distinct visual indicators for selected measurements.
    • Clear XYZ vector color coding.
  • Unit support:

    • Metric units (meters, millimeters).
    • Imperial units (1/16”, 1/4”).
    • Measurements now display inches as whole units and fractions.

Geometry Optimization: Improved level-of-detail (LOD)* implementation. This setting allows users a degree of control over geometry decimation, which will increase LOD loading performance.

Workshop XR uses a level-of-detail system to dynamically render geometry that is close to the user in a high level of detail.

Web user audio management: New tools allowing the muting of all web users or individual web users. These tools are now available to users using Workshop XR in their web browser.

What’s Fixed

  • Improved object appearance for models with large bounds: Consolidated mesh data relative to tile bounds to avoid jittery movement. Transformations are now performed more precisely.
  • Optimizing web performance: Enhanced performance when viewing a Workshop on the web to address flickering and latency.
  • WXR on web improvements and fixes: General performance and stability improvements when viewing a Workshop on the web.
  • Missing XR Admin: Resolved an issue where some Projects may be in a state with no XR Admin, leading to users being locked out of Admin actions.
  • 1:1 model navigation: Fixed an issue where users could not navigate the model after switching to 1:1 first person mode.
  • Mute status reset: Fixed an issue where the VR host changing the model during a session would unmute all participants.
  • Missing loading indicator: When launching Workshop XR, users may experience a long loading time before the screen displays the project list.
  • Distorted Avatars: Fixed an issue where some Meta Avatars would appear distorted when viewed within a Workshop.
  • Various crash and bug fixes: Implemented fixes for various bugs and crashes users faced on specific models.

Known Issues

  • Significant frame drop when manipulating large models: Manipulating (moving, scaling) the model on the workshop table may cause a significant frame rate decrease on some larger models.
  • Workshop header information not updating: When a non-VR host changes the model, the header information displayed does not update accordingly, leading to confusion among users.
  • VR users experience grayed-out "Go-To" and "Gather" buttons in Workshops: VR users may randomly find the "Go-To" and "Gather" buttons disabled. To re-enable, users must exit to the home space and return to the workshop.
  • Two-sided surfaces disappear when highlighted: Two-sided surfaces disappear when highlighted using the properties selector.
  • Web users duplication: If a user has workshop.autodesk.com open on their computer and then launches the VR app, their user will appear twice in the people panel, even if they are not using the workshop viewer on web.
  • Web user audio issue: In very rare cases, a user viewing a workshop from the web browser may lose meeting audio when exiting and re-entering the workshop.
