Release Notes

What’s New

Web App

  • Autonomous Movement: Users can now navigate 3D models freely inside the Workshop Web App without a VR headset or host. This feature allows reviewers to independently pan, orbit, and walk through environments directly in the browser, making model exploration more accessible, efficient, and collaborative across devices while expanding the reach of XR reviews beyond headset users.
  • Share Files: Web users can now autonomously create workshops, add models, and swap models during sessions without the need for a VR host. This feature enhances independence by enabling quick setup and model changes, speeds up the review process by removing reliance on headset users, broadens access for stakeholders without VR, and allows for flexible, real-time updates during sessions.
  • Pointing: Both web and VR users can now point directly at areas of interest in the model to highlight specific details during reviews. This feature enhances clarity by instantly directing attention, keeps discussions focused on the right details, and fosters collaboration by creating a shared sense of presence across devices.

Measure

  • Perpendicular Measure Mode: With the "No Click/One Click" Perpendicular Distance tool, users can quickly find the shortest distance between two surfaces just by pointing and aiming—press select once only when needed. This streamlines measurement workflows, reduces visual clutter, and minimizes the need to delete unnecessary measurements.
  • Crosshair Visual for Snap indicators: Snap indicators with voids (e.g., square, triangle, circle) now include crosshairs to improve precision when detecting, selecting, and placing endpoints. This update enhances accuracy and includes refinements to sensitivity when placing measurement points at a distance.
  • Edge Measure Mode: Easily measure the length of geometry edges by simply pointing and aiming with the edge distance tool enabled—click once only when placement is needed. This reduces clicks, improving speed and accuracy for common distance measurements.

Mute All

  • Any participant—VR or Web—can now mute all others with a single action, making it easy to manage background noise, especially with varied web audio setups. This feature improves control, maintains clarity in conversations, and ensures consistent collaboration across different devices.

Model Loading

  • Dynamic LOD Budgeting: Automatically balances performance and visual fidelity by displaying distant objects in lower resolution while preserving detailed geometry up close, reducing “box LODs” and optimizing poly budget for smoother navigation in larger, denser projects.
  • Runtime Decimation Control: Allows users to adjust the model’s decimation level (low, medium, high) on the fly during workshops, enabling real-time control over detail, performance, and focus without needing to reload the model. Higher optimization allows users to opt to prioritize the loading more geometry with the tradeoff that that geometry has been highly decimated, meaning it displays at a lower fidelity.

Beta Settings

  • (Beta Setting) Hide Measurements: Allows users to hide all measurements in their current session to reduce visual clutter—only affects the individual who enables it and disables the ability to create new measurements until toggled off.
  • (Beta Setting) 2-sided materials: An optional setting that renders both sides of faces to fix flipped normals and fill holes caused by mis-oriented geometry—useful for troubleshooting, though off by default due to performance impact.
  • (Beta Setting) Edge Rendering: Adds outlines to model edges for improved visual clarity, making shapes easier to distinguish and enhancing presentation quality during reviews and screenshots.

Improvements

  • Optimized Screen Size calculation: Better screen size calculations for visible objects, contributing to higher visual precision.
  • Click Measurement a second time To Deselect: Users will be able click measurement a second time to deselect.

Resolved Issues

  • Pairing issue leading to a blank screen: Fixed an issue where if a signed-out user navigates to https://workshop.autodesk.com/pair, and logs in, then the user is not shown the pairing code. Instead, they are shown a blank screen.
  • VR app crashes after returning from sleep mode: Fixed an issue where Workshop XR would crash or freeze after returning from sleep mode, and user would get a notification saying that the app is not responding. The app now reconnects when “waking up” the headset, and this crash will no longer occur.
  • Web App Mic and Speaker Settings Updates Not Reflected in Web App Session: Fixed an issue where changes to the mic and speaker settings within the web app were not reflected on the PC itself. Updates should now be reflected on both sides.

Known Issues

  • Issues not displaying and 3D view synchronization problems in VR: Issues are not visible in user-created views. Issues created in VR are not saved or synchronized. 3D view changes in VR are not reflected on the web interface.
  • Measurements tool does not reset on using other tools: If measurement panel is open and issue is selected, measurement panel does not collapse and properties button is not visible.
