Navigation 101: Your Starter Guide for Navigating Autodesk Workshop XR

Adjust Fly Up / Down Increments
Depending on the size of the model, the fly up/down distance may need adjustment for comfortable movement. Follow these steps:
- Access Settings: Click the gear icon in the Core Menu.
- Find Movement Settings: Under "Movement," locate the Fly up/down Increments.
- Choose an Increment:
- Short: Ideal for smaller models; increases comfort in VR.
- Default: Suitable for most scenarios.
- Long: Best for larger models; may reduce comfort in VR.
Disable Comfort Tunnel
The Comfort Tunnel is like your VR safety goggles. It reduces visual stimuli during movement to help maintain balance. Here's how to adjust it:
- Access Settings: Click the gear icon in the Core Menu.
- Find Movement Settings: Under "Movement," locate the Comfort Tunnel toggle.
- Toggle Comfort Tunnel:
- On: Default setting; tunnel enabled.
- Off: Tunnel disabled; may cause discomfort with Smooth Motion.
Smooth Motion Movement
Smooth Motion in Workshop XR is just like moving in your favorite video games, controlled by the left thumb stick:
- Move Forward: Press the thumb stick forward.
- Comfort Tunnel: By default, a dark vignette appears around the field of view during Smooth Motion.
Change Smooth Motion Speed
Let's fine-tune your movement speed. This can really help with comfort and motion sickness:
- Access Settings: Click the gear icon in the Core Menu.
- Find Movement Settings: Under "Movement," locate the Smooth Motion Speed.
- Choose a Speed:
- Slow: Increases comfort; good for smaller models.
- Default: Balanced comfort and speed.
- Fast: Reduces comfort; suitable for larger models.
Adjust Teleportation Distance
Adjusting teleportation distance can improve comfort based on model size:
- Access Settings: Click the gear icon in the Core Menu.
- Find Movement Settings: Under "Movement," locate the Teleportation Distance.
- Choose a Distance:
- Short: Good for smaller models.
- Default: Works well for most scenarios.
- Long: Suitable for larger models.
Using the Go to User Tool
During a design review, you may need to go to another user's location in VR:
- Open Core Menu: Near the bottom of the field of view.
- Select People Button: Represented by icons of two people.
- Find User: In the People menu, locate the desired user.
- Go to User: Click the Go To button.
Initially, you will be in a People Stack with the other user. As you move around, avatars will reappear.
Using the Gather Tool
To bring all users to your location:
- Open Core Menu: Near the bottom of the field of view.
- Select People Button: Near the middle of the Core Menu.
- Gather All Users: In the People menu, click the Gather All button.
All users will be in the People Stack initially. As participants move, avatars will return.
