Camera positioning for interior space renderings in Fusion 360

Technical Support

Issue:

Regardless of the selected view, the rendering workspace in Fusion 360 only allows to render a design from its exterior. How to position the camera to allow a rendering of an interior space?

Solution:

Follow one of the suggestions below to render the interior space of a Fusion 360 design:

Zoom in through an exterior part

  1. In the "Render" workspace, go to "Setup" -> "Scene Settings" -> Camera.
  2. Make sure that "Perspective" or "Perspective with Ortho Faces" is selected.
  3. Zoom in through the exterior part to see behind it.
  4. Change the "Focal Length" for the Camera settings to achieve the desired view.

Cut out a part of the design

  1. Go to the "Design" workspace
  2. Construct a plane at a distance from the design.
  3. Create a sketch to cover the entire design.
  4. Extrude the sketch to cut a part out to see its interior.
