Solution:

Initial troubleshooting

First, work through the general suggestions outlined in the article here: Fusion hangs/freezes on startup

Configure proxy information

  1. Check if the issue is network related by opening Fusion when connected to a different network (such as a hotspot).
  2. If the program opens without hanging, add Ports and Domains required by Fusion to your proxy and firewall through the steps in the following articles:
    1. How to configure proxy server and firewall for Fusion (macOS)
    2. Add proxy server information to Network Preferences in Fusion (macOS)

Check whether the port for the adexmtsv process (port 9891) is not used by other applications

  1. Open Terminal.
  2. Run the below command: sudo lsof -i -n -P | grep TCP | grep 9891
  3. If port 9891 is used by other applications, consider one of the below options:
    • Change the port to 9892 in the adexmtsv_prod.cfg in /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Common/Material Library/<Material Library Version>/.
    • Stop the service which is using port 9891.
  4. Launch Fusion.

Note: The adexmtsv.log file's folder location will change over time as the Material library is versioned.

Run Disk Repair
