How to create an exploded view for drawings and animations in Fusion.

Issue:

How to create an exploded view for either a drawing or an animation in Fusion.

Solution:

Exploded views must be created in the Animation Environment in Fusion. 

To create an Exploded View follow these steps:

  1. Open assembly. 
  2. Switch to the Animation Environment. 
  3. Explode the Assembly either manually with the Move command by selecting on the canvas or selecting the components/ sub-assembly from the Browser list.
  4. Or using the "Auto Explode: One Level" or "Auto Explode: All Levels" options under the Transform menu. 
  5. Apply "Trail Line Visibility" or "Split Transforms" as desired through the move dialogue. 

Once the Exploded View is created, transfer it to the Drawing Environment with the following steps:

  1. Save the Animation. 

  2. Switch to the Drawing Environment and select "From Animation". 
  3. Place the base view on the sheet. The base view will be the exploded view that was created. 
  4. if it is required to have a particular view, add a named view from the design and select the same named view while creating a drawing. 

It is also possible to animate the exploded view and export it as a video file:

  1. Follow the steps above to create the exploded view. 

  2. Click on "Publish" in the Tool Ribbon 
  3. Select the desired Storyboard and Video Resolution.
  4. Click OK. 
  5. On the next window; Name the video file and select where to save it locally and/or in the cloud. Be sure to check the boxes. 

To create a video of the exploded view moving in reverse to assemble instead of explode:

  1. Follow the steps above to create the exploded view. 

  2. Right Click on the Storyboard name in the bottom left of the Animation workspace. 
  3. Select "Reverse" on the pop-up.
